NO MONEY NEEDED TO FIND YOUR TREASSURE!
After four months collecting residual objects from the weekly auction known as Vrijdagmarkt, that takes place in a central square of Antwerp, we proceed to distribute them in a single day open event.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Nobody? is an auction without monetary exchange that is supplied with the waste that appears within the consumption cycles, breaking the logic of permanent capitalist obsolescence.
The action proposes to establish collective manipulations of capitalist rhythms based on collective exchange relations such as barter and mutual support.
Functioning:
“The objects will be auctioned one by one, if you are interested in an object, you must raise your hand, your voice, emit a sound or any symbol of interest. If that happens the object will be delivered without any kind of commercial transaction. In case two people are interested in the same object it will be solved at the moment by means of improvisation techniques. In case the object is not desired by anyone, it will be considered obsolete and it will be destroyed through the implacable mechanism of the ”smashing machine ”. Prior to the destruction of any object, a countdown will happened to give space for possible salvation 5,4,3,2,1 Nobody? “
